Official: Potential buyers start to visit IKEA's plants
ST.PETERSBURG, Oct 24 (PRIME) -- Representatives for potential buyers of the IKEA’s plants in Russia have started visiting the premises on condition of anonymity, Alexander Illarionov, organizer of the timber industries trade union, told PRIME on Monday.
"A group of visitors has been to Nizhny Novgorod and Tikhvin. A visit to the Kirov Region was preliminarily scheduled for the next week," Illarionov said.
According to the official, six Russian companies are considering buying IKEA's facilities.
Media reported at the end of August that IKEA, having suspended sales in Russia in March, was not looking for a buyer for its business in Russia and might relaunch stores and warehouses in two years, while about 700 employees would continue working for the company.
